MAZE ONE
[You wake up on a cold metal bed in a room that is unfamiliar to you.
How long have you been out for? Why does your head hurt? Why can't you remember how you got here?
Before you find the answer to these questions, you might want to check out that hand-written note. There's one in every room.
Dear [NAME],
Thank you for volunteering to participate in the experiment. With your help, this project should be quite successful. My name is Huey Laforet, and I am the one responsible for this experiment. I will be here observing and the point of my project will be revealed by the end.
Your goal today is to find the exit. To do so, you'll need three card keys. However, to activate them, you will need the item listed on the card to move forward. You might not be able to find everything by searching, but certainly, there are other ways to get what you need. I've left them scattered about,
If you fail to escape by the time the experiment is over, you will have to participate in further experiments with me. If you succeed, then you will be able to successfully leave the maze.
I wish you luck. Try to stay alive.

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
what]
[Didn't he do this waking up suddenly in strange places thing already?]
Is this--?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Is something the matter?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
I'm just. . . well, I'm pretty sure I wasn't here before? I thought we were leaving. . .
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
. . .
We should be careful.
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Of course. It'd be awful if something were to happen to one of us.
[ well. ok that's not actually a lie but-- ]
Is it all right if I ask you something?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
I get a bad feeling that something might. . .
[blinks, then nods]
Um, sure. What do you want to ask?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Um, yes! Yes, I went to school there! If you're asking about it, then we must have escaped!
[glancing around a bit frantically, trying to gauge his surroundings]
But is this really the outside. . .?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Escaped...? I'm sorry, I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean. At the very least, I'm sure this isn't Hope's Peak, and just before this I was on an island... Were you having some trouble?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
I'm sure this isn't Hope's Peak either, and I'm sure Hope's Peak is not somewhere anyone would want to be right now.
[hesitating, before continuing, firm but gentle]
Let's just say. . . that this situation is awfully familiar to what happened at that school. Mmm, we should definitely be careful.
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
he didn't doubt him in the least; he felt a similar aura from naegi as he would from other shsls. though, how should he put it? something about it . . . well, the gut instinct of trash like him probably didn't mean much anyway, so he figures it'd be all right to ignore it for now. ]
I can agree with that much. I'd like to hear all about what happened with Hope's Peak, but, considering the circumstances, it might be best to do as we're told for now. We don't know if there's a time limit, either...
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
I think that's a good idea. We might find something useful during our search for these keycards, too.
[after all, thoroughly exploring the premises was what helped his group discover the mystery behind the mastermind. right?]
Oh! I'm Naegi Makoto. I don't think I introduced myself.
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
[ you know, considering the circumstances. looking around, eyes settling on the drain. ]
Let's see... We should probably get out of the pool to get a better look at things, but that seems like the obvious thing to check first, since we're already here . . .
[ and why not go for the bait. going to inspect the drain. ]
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
[That's the closest he gets to a "pleased to meet you"]
Just because it's obvious doesn't mean we shouldn't look. Clues can be hiding anywhere, right?
[And with that, he follows him to the drain]
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Eeeh?
[trying to get a closer look]
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
If you look, you can see sea lampreys swimming about. There's something floating around them as well.]
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Where did these come from? And what is that. . .?
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
[ kneeling down to get a closer look at the floating things though ]
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
Re: THE SWIMMING POOL
well it would follow that he ought to reach in and get it but. considering there are fish in there with a lot of sharps, it follows a rather cliche children's cartoon plot that the fish will probably pose a problem. (though, komaeda must give it credit for not being full of piranhas, of all things.)
after a moment of contemplation, he slowly takes off the glass lid and, if nothing happens, takes off his coat and lowers it into the drain to see if it elicits any kind of reaction from the lampreys. ]
