MAZE ONE

[You wake up on a cold metal bed in a room that is unfamiliar to you.

How long have you been out for? Why does your head hurt? Why can't you remember how you got here?

Before you find the answer to these questions, you might want to check out that hand-written note. There's one in every room.

Dear [NAME],

Thank you for volunteering to participate in the experiment. With your help, this project should be quite successful. My name is Huey Laforet, and I am the one responsible for this experiment. I will be here observing and the point of my project will be revealed by the end.

Your goal today is to find the exit. To do so, you'll need three card keys. However, to activate them, you will need the item listed on the card to move forward. You might not be able to find everything by searching, but certainly, there are other ways to get what you need. I've left them scattered about,

If you fail to escape by the time the experiment is over, you will have to participate in further experiments with me. If you succeed, then you will be able to successfully leave the maze.

I wish you luck. Try to stay alive.

-Huey Laforet

[Didn't he do this waking up suddenly in strange places thing already?]

Is this--?

[ none of you look familiar but i f you guys are shsls ......... ]

Is something the matter?

[no recognition. he is also HIGHLY BEWILDERED]

I'm just. . . well, I'm pretty sure I wasn't here before? I thought we were leaving. . .

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] outbalance 2014-01-10 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
That might be normal. It doesn't seem like anyone completely understands how they got here. Ah, but I suppose the note did help with the "why"...

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] superunlucky 2014-01-10 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[but the why doesn't help!1 it doesn't help that he's having flashbacks to when he first woke up in Hope's Peak, too. . .]

. . .

We should be careful.

[ IT REALLY DOESN'T there's nothing hope-inducing about this screw u huey laforet ]

Of course. It'd be awful if something were to happen to one of us.

[ well. ok that's not actually a lie but-- ]

Is it all right if I ask you something?

[we'll just have to make it hope-inducing okok]

I get a bad feeling that something might. . .

[blinks, then nods]

Um, sure. What do you want to ask?

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] outbalance 2014-01-10 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Would you happen to have any affiliation with Hope's Peak Academy?

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] superunlucky 2014-01-10 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[blinks again, taken aback with surprise, which shows on his expressions]

Um, yes! Yes, I went to school there! If you're asking about it, then we must have escaped!

[glancing around a bit frantically, trying to gauge his surroundings]

But is this really the outside. . .?

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] outbalance 2014-01-10 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ honestly, he shouldn't have been surprised, since his luck always came around -- but he didn't expect it to balance out so soon. of course, the astounding privilege of meeting a shsl he'd yet to meet, even in a situation like this, probably meant that this ordeal was going to be pretty terrible, but that was just splitting hairs. ]

Escaped...? I'm sorry, I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean. At the very least, I'm sure this isn't Hope's Peak, and just before this I was on an island... Were you having some trouble?

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] superunlucky 2014-01-10 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[goes quiet for a moment, taking in a deep breath then letting it out slowly]

I'm sure this isn't Hope's Peak either, and I'm sure Hope's Peak is not somewhere anyone would want to be right now.

[hesitating, before continuing, firm but gentle]

Let's just say. . . that this situation is awfully familiar to what happened at that school. Mmm, we should definitely be careful.

[ that makes him visibly concerned -- there's no need to hide that -- but he tries to mediate his priorities right now. hope's peak was of utmost importance, but he had some responsibility in doing what he could to make sure naegi made it out all right.

he didn't doubt him in the least; he felt a similar aura from naegi as he would from other shsls. though, how should he put it? something about it . . . well, the gut instinct of trash like him probably didn't mean much anyway, so he figures it'd be all right to ignore it for now. ]

I can agree with that much. I'd like to hear all about what happened with Hope's Peak, but, considering the circumstances, it might be best to do as we're told for now. We don't know if there's a time limit, either...

[gives a small nod of agreement. this boy speaks sense]

I think that's a good idea. We might find something useful during our search for these keycards, too.

[after all, thoroughly exploring the premises was what helped his group discover the mystery behind the mastermind. right?]

Oh! I'm Naegi Makoto. I don't think I introduced myself.

It's fine. I'm Komaeda Nagito. Hopefully it's still appropriate to say "Pleased to meet you"...

[ you know, considering the circumstances. looking around, eyes settling on the drain. ]

Let's see... We should probably get out of the pool to get a better look at things, but that seems like the obvious thing to check first, since we're already here . . .

[ and why not go for the bait. going to inspect the drain. ]

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] superunlucky 2014-01-10 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
I wish we could've met in better circumstances, Komaeda-san.

[That's the closest he gets to a "pleased to meet you"]

Just because it's obvious doesn't mean we shouldn't look. Clues can be hiding anywhere, right?

[And with that, he follows him to the drain]

[something swimming. . . in the drain?]

Eeeh?

[trying to get a closer look]

[lamp. . . reys. . .]

Where did these come from? And what is that. . .?

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] outbalance 2014-01-10 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
It's possible our captor installed them here as part of the scavenger hunt, so to speak. They don't really seem that calming though, for fish...

[ kneeling down to get a closer look at the floating things though ]

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] outbalance 2014-01-10 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ kneeling down trying to see what's floating around them... ]

Re: THE SWIMMING POOL

[personal profile] outbalance 2014-01-10 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... hmmmm

well it would follow that he ought to reach in and get it but. considering there are fish in there with a lot of sharps, it follows a rather cliche children's cartoon plot that the fish will probably pose a problem. (though, komaeda must give it credit for not being full of piranhas, of all things.)

after a moment of contemplation, he slowly takes off the glass lid and, if nothing happens, takes off his coat and lowers it into the drain to see if it elicits any kind of reaction from the lampreys. ]
